Once Upon a Khmer Empire

Cambodia in November 2014. A country ravaged by the three-year genocidal terror in the second half of the 1970s, evidence of which is plain to see in Phnom Penh, also captured in the movie The Killing Fields. In contrast, the splendour of the 12th-century Angkor Wat complex in Siem Reap is simply awesome.

Phnom Penh

Brutal, savage war
One of the less gruesome images of torture
A sight for sore eyes after the genocide centre visit

Angkor Wat, Siem Reap

A climb not for the faint-hearted
Glorious sunset over Angkor Wat. Good night.
